According to a source cited in The Spectator, Meghan was “upset and overwhelmed” following the episode’s release and was planning to sue.
However, a spokesperson for the couple denied this claim, calling the reports “totally baseless, boring” and “absolute trash.”
The coverage of Meghan and Harry has become an industry in and of itself, with rumors swirling about their every move. But even the most well-sourced insiders are clueless as to what the couple has planned for the future. According to royal expert Omid Scobie, “no-one knows their plans right now.”
In the South Park episode, Meghan and Harry are portrayed as attention-seeking individuals who claim they don’t want the spotlight, a characterization that has been leveled at the couple before. Following the release of Harry & Meghan, the couple’s global press secretary addressed this issue head-on.
“Their statement announcing their decision to step back mentions nothing of privacy and reiterates their desire to continue their roles and public duties,” the spokesperson said.
“Any suggestion otherwise speaks to a key point of this series… They are choosing to share their story, on their terms, and yet the tabloid media has created an entirely untrue narrative that permeates press coverage and public opinion. The facts are right in front of them.”
It remains to be seen how much more speculation and gossip will continue to surround Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, but one thing is for sure: their rep will always be quick to deny any false rumors and set the record straight.
